putting flash in DW - 4/12/2006 19:56:06
I made a simple flash banner and i want to put it into the header of my page i have open in DW. i cant seem to get it there. I go to insert-media and choose flash but i just get a gray box with the flash F in it. when i preview it in the browser. i just get a white box. the pics that are in the movie are in the image folder.

Also - I don't know if it has any bearing at all - but there's the whole Eolas thing to consider now with embedded things like Flash: http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/m-320684/tm.htm

My understanding of the issue (and I don't use interactive flash or embedded media so I'm talking second hand) is that if you use flash or other embedded media for "pretty" in other words - just running an animated banner for example - then there should be no change.

Problems arise, as I understand it, for people who need to interact with the flash animation or embedded media as they can't automatically do this as they used to be able to. For example, a flash navigation system or a flash photoalbum with "forward" and "backwards" controls or an embedded media clip with the "play", "pause" and "volume" controls.

To interact with these embedded thingies people will have to confirm they want to activate the item by clicking twice on them.

Aparently the way round this inconvenience is to use scripting to write the embedded thing into the page rather than just hardcoding it into the page as you probably would have done previously.

So I think the thing is if you're not expecting the user to "do" anything with the embedded thing then you're ok.
