If you're using PS the file format doesn't mean much. Here was the same question, I believe, posed in another NG. There are 2 answers, A and B: I load my photo, and I want to change a particular color that appears in several different places. I use the following operation: IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>REPLACE COLOR and I get the Replace Color Dialogue Box and I click on "Selection" and then click on an area in my photo that has the color I want to change (say RED). the little preview (Preview is chcked) shows my areas that were RED now as WHITE (I assume it is telling me it has identifeid all the places in my photo where the color I picked (RED) is found. So far so good. I then move my cursor up to the top "COLOR" box and the info box pops out and says: "click to change the selection color" When I click, I get a new dialogue box entitled "COLOR PICKER", where a bix rectangular color box is offered. I move my cursor over the color I want to have the red change to (BLUE), and I see the cursor has changed to a small circle, and I clcik (over the blue). It shows my new color (BLUE on the top part of the small color box in the middle of the COLOR PICKER dialogue box, AND also in the lower RESULT color box on the REPLACE COLOR dialogue box (underneath). I click OK and the COLOR PICKER dialogue box goes away, and I see my new color (BLUE) in the RESULT color box and I click OK. Nothing happens. My photo reamins exactly as it was. I wanted the RED areas to change to BLUE. I thought I had properly insturcted PHOTSHOP which areas to change and which color to change it to, and it fooled me into thinking it undedrstood that, but, when I click OK after I see everything looks correct (on the REPLACE COLOR dialogue box, the dialogue box goes away as if somehow it got the idea I changed my mind. What am I missing here? How do I tell PHOTOSHOP to go ahead and make the change that it seems all set up to do? A. Try the bottom box... B. try this instead make an adjustment layer, use slective color make sure red is in the drop down move sliders till all the red turns blue

I figured out why I couldn't enter a specific color code to change the color. I have an older version of photoshop. I can only slide the hue, saturation to change the color. I was able to enter a specific color code in paint shop pro.

Current versions of PS (definitely since v8 but I think v7 also) have a "fuzziness" adjustment, as well as a plus pen to extend the range of colors to be replaced.
