www.waterpatrol.org

This site has been up for about two years. I try to change the graphics twice a year (summer and winter) but I feel it is getting stale.

For background, it is designed to help the boating public in our county in Minnesota get information, fill out forms and make applications. It also provides information and is used to recruit volunteers.

Those that think the web is a mysterious gift from the gods are impressed, but I am not so sure.

Your touch of doubt is telling you something.:)
I'm not sure where I'd start but I would agree that a makeover is in order. While the site isn't bad I think it's got a lot of links and such that could be better organized and the navigation (at least to me) isn't exactly user friendly.

Browsers allow text to be increased in size if needed (for accessibilty). I wear very large glasses so I don't need the text to be quite so big. For me it just meant unescessary scrolling.

The site is a lot of single colour text on a plain white background with some good photos thrown around inside.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that if you want to display a lot of information clearly.

My first impression was that it's very blue. Personally I'd balance that up a little and let the other colours get a little bit of a look in. :) As has previously been said though, it's a perfectly serviceable site though and looks good. If you're sticking with the blue I'd use either black or dark grey text, not blue, just to provide a little contrast.

I was a little confused by the three home pages on the 'home' menu button thing, but I can see why you've done it like that, though it might be better to have just a home button and links to the other two home pages elsewhere.

Looks good though.

Looking good brother! :)

Lots of info and everything moves smoothly. Good job. I live in Minnesota, so that may have helped! :)

Thank you for your opinions. I am taking most of them to heart and will be making a major upgrade soon.

Gosh Doug, don't take the comments to heart!

Wouldn't it have been more apt to say that you'll take the comments "on board"?

I like the Weather Channel current weather thing in the lower left hand corner. Where did you find that? I can only find the desktop weather thing. I want something for my site like you have.

Go to weather.com and you can apply to have it on your site.
