Strange-looking metas - 4/24/2006 20:11:14
Hi-
My main competitor has recently pulled ahead of me in google and I noticed something new in their metas in their html code. It looks like css instructions to me, but their css is further down the page. I have never seen this before and am afraid that I'm falling behind the curve here. I have taken out the subject references to protect the innocent. I have always tried to be white hat and am wondering what the heck this stuff is. Anyone know?

First, this is the way I do it:
--------------------------------------------------------
<title>title</title>
<meta name="Description" content="description">
<meta name="keywords" content="keywords">
---------------------------------------------------------
And this is theirs:
---------------------------------------------------------
<title>title</title>
<meta name="Keywords" content="content">
<meta name="Author" content="person">
<meta name="Headline" content="headline">
<meta name="PhotographyCredit" content="Person">

<meta name="Pullquote" content="quote">
<meta name="Publicationdate" content="date and time">
<meta name="Category" content="type">
<meta name="SolutionCenter" content="subject">
<meta name="FeatureType" content="feature">
<meta name="Description" content="description">
<meta name="Affiliate" content="code>
<meta name="keywords" content="keywords">
<meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache">
<meta name="topic" content="subject">
<meta name="ages" content="5,6,7,8,9,10,11,all">
<meta name="Classification" content="cat:sub cat:topic">

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Rick

That looks like custom tags generated by the software used to build the HTML.
