I'm not convinced this is a good thing. Adobe is big enough and bad enough to go after Microsoft but Microsoft still control the OS and there are already rumours that the upgrade to IE will completely nobble integrated Flash.

I've said this before but it is worth repeating. I really don't like the way M$ throws it 500 pound ass around!!!!

I doubt MS will do anything of the sort. Just another pointless rumor.

After gaining such a market position and the negative reputation that comes with it, they have become more and more benign the last few years about competition, recognizing the benefits of playing well with others.

I will bet money they will NOT exclude any technology from their platform or browser that brings any benefit to the user that they have come to expect. That would only hurt business for them, and they've come to recognize that.

Besides, MS has always been the early adopter of web technology since IE4, whereas other browsers lagged behind in accepting codes, scripts, and plug-ins that are now universally accepted. Why would they go backwards and shoot themselves in the foot?

Day five: There's a fat lady, and she's warming up...

MS v. EC

I rather think that M$ is being dragged kicking and screaming towards being benign. :)

did anyone read this bit? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/04/25/ms_vs_ec_daytwo/

quote:

The mails suggested the battle should be redefined as "Windows versus Real Player" rather than "NetShow versus Real Player".

Regardless of whether MS were doing what they're accused of, I wouldn't shed a tear to see Real Player go down the plug hole.

If it did, and is was because of MS' "business model", then give them an award for Best Anti Virus Solution:)

I can't say I'm a big fan of Real Player - it's intrusive and annoying.

And while I enjoy M$ getting a kicking as much as the next person (not saying it's right ) - I'm all for being fair about these things. I don't remember anyone suing Apple for packaging Quicktime in with OSx.
