FP will not Open Site anymore - 4/26/2006 21:21:18
I just moved my website to a new hosting company (the old one, NEtMart.com, is horrible). After the domain transferred, I installed FP extensions and tried to connect through frontpage, as usual. Well, after selecting Open Site... and typing in the URL (http://emmanuel-hermitage.org) I get The Folder http://emmanuel-hermitage.org is unavailable...error.

I've spoken to the support at the hosting company and they assure me it's nothing on their end. They can connect without any trouble at all. They've offered me a bunch of different suggestions and things to try, and nothings worked.

Now I run another site, http://drakalegends.com, and frontpage connects to it without a hitch. This site is hosted by a different company as well.

I tried to use dreamweaver to rebuild the emmanuel website, but it too has trouble connecting to the site.

Now I hate to sound really dumb, but it appears that the problem lies on the server and NOT on my computer, considering also that I restored and reinstalled frontpage 2003.

do you have any other suggestions? I've tried messing with the security settings in the internet options screen, changing the login options, no help. I've purged the FP cache stuff with some program called FPcleaner. I don't know what else to do at this point. I really need to get the site back up and running. I'm considering just rebuilding it, database and all, and forgeting about frontpage all together.

- So, other people tried to connect to the site and it worked, when you tried a different program, it still didn't work for you.

- If other people can connect to the server, the problem is most likely on your side.

1) Have you tried to publish a blank web site to see if it would work?
2) Can you log in via FTP?

thanks for your suggestions. It ended up being the server afterall. for whever reason, they had to completly re-construct the site in IIS and rebuild it's file structure. After doing this, I was able to, and have been able to connect without any troubles at all.

Thanks
