Cell Phone (RingTone) Help - 5/4/2006 20:03:05
I have been googling for an hour with no luck. Can anyone help me find a ringtone of the traditional "Happy Birthday to You" song? I don't want to subscribe to a ringtone service, rather I just want to buy this one ringtone. I bought a cell for my daughter who turns 16 tomorrow and want to hide the phone in her room and then call it at some absurd time of the morning.

Should add my carrier is T-Mobile and the phone is a Motorola Razor phone.

Will it accept an MP3 as a ring tone? I dont have a motorola, but my sony will play mp3's as a ring tone. Easier than buying one :-/

Great idea though! Whats the number to ring? :)

Kitka, that one doesn't appear to serve T-Mobile. I found a site that charges a one-time fee of $7.99 for all the downloads I want. I received a text message with a link to get the ringtone now if I can just figure out how to follow the link. I have always been kind of anti-cellphone and now I am paying the price for my ignorance.

Finally figured it out. That phone is about as intuitive as my first web site!

If it's not mp3 but polyphonic it will be a midi file. There are loads of these available free of charge just google midi happy birthday. Then transfer it to your phone. This works for Nokia and Sony Ericson so I assume it'll work for Motorola also.

I have a T-Mobile Razr (V3)

I use this:
http://www.mobiledit.com/

to transfer .mp3/.wav files and use them as ringtones. I use http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ to open music files and edit/shorten/clip/fade them before I upload.

Both are free software and simple to use.

I have a Pearl Jam song as my ringtone, Darth Vader and Capt Kirk sound wav's for other tones

I made my wife a ringtone from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme song

I dig the menu.

Under Verizon the menu sucks... not sure why but they changed it from the standard. The RAZR (under T-mobile and Cingulair) uses the default Motorola menu, which is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

I've heard horror stories about the RAZR... breaking, not working, battery issues, too fragile, etc.

But I haven't had any trouble with mine.

Only two complaints: First the LCD screens get really dirty, so you constantly have to rub the dang thing on your pant leg or shirt to clean it off.

Second: it's too dang small and light. I forget that I'm carrying it, or that I'm not carrying it... it gets lost a lot.

:)

not a bad idea...

The problem is that it's too dang small and light. It's not like the other, more bulky phones I've had in the past. When one of those was missing from your pocket you knew it...
