Let's try to stay on topic here. If you want to talk about the broken search engines, start a new thread.

Bobby, your right of course, we should stay on topic, but IMO it's so far gone... Donkey, can you show me some examples of what you're talking about? I can't remember the last time Google returned something completely different than what I searched for. Examples would be appreciated. I do come across directories and lists, but they almost always have something in common with the searched for topic. quote:
The SEO "industry" has perverted this useful tool to make money from people aimlessly clicking through to sites that have no interest to them then clicking out again. Google is not YOUR tool. It's a for-profit business. They determine which sites to index and where they rank in that index. Nobody else determines that. This is fact. There is no need to place quotes around the SEO Industry. It is huge business even if you were unaware. quote:
but the advertisers who pay per click are also being cheated. What are you talking about?? Advertisers don't pay per click for the organic results... sheesh. quote:
I know that a lot of people are making a lot of money out of SEO but their moral position is indefensible. Nice highhorse you're riding. If you had a clue I would think your opinion may be worth something. But your arguments don't make sense. quote:
You may be able to make a lot of money with it but that is no defense, you can also make a lot of money from fraud and armed robbery. Example please. I wan't to see this rampat cheating that's going on. It sounds to me like sour grapes. Just because you can't compete - you blame everyone better than you. Nice.

I am saying that all SEO is wrong because it is making the search engines come up with results that are vastly different from what they would be without SEO. For example without SEO sites would be ranked purely on their content which would give a fairer ranking system. Donkey: good points but I disagree on that one. no matter what criteria SE's use, it is human nature and fundamentally important for business sites and not "wrong" to try to have their site rank as high as possible. the O is for optimizing - understanding how the SEs rank and trying to make your site optimaly conform. If you feed your family selling steam cleaners and find your site ranking on page 100, surely you dont think it wrong to try to move up? as to this: <quote>For example without SEO sites would be ranked purely on their content </quote> Google or Yahoo could rank solely on content any time the please..but as soon as they do, SEO becomes all about content.
