ou812 -> Apple, bulk emailing (5/17/2006 12:52:14)

I have someone who is using a MAC (which I've not touched one for 10 or so years) and they are trying to do bulk emailing (about 2000) to clients. They stated they are using something called Remote Desktop Connection IDC (which seems to be a _very_ strange name for an emailing component) but it is not allowing them to send to the whole list and it is only able to attach their document instead of building something in the body. Attaching PDF's or DOCs which are making the emails a MB or so sometimes. And they would like to get something _much_ smaller 50-100K or so, with images and text.

I've not found anything on the net about RDC being any kind of emailing software so I haven't found anything about what they are currently doing. Anyone have any ideas what this might be?

OR, does anyone have any solutions for bulk emailing from an Apple?

I was also thinking of getting them to create their email using some type of WYSIWYG editor (they know NO HTML) and having their host email. They're on a linux box. Are there any solutions that run on a linux server that lets you create and then send using a mailing list?

Any thoughts welcomed!

What about a service like Constant Contact? Didn't Thomas try that out recently? I've seen a few emails via them in my InBox recently (last year or so) and seemed to be as 'page layout' as any other higher-end newsletter / mass-email.

Thanks, Roger.

Intestingly, I was able to get the actual software product name they are using, and downloaded a trial version for myself, and find that they should be able to create basic HTML emails with WYSIWYG editor. So now I'll get to understand more of what the problem is.

thanks again. I'll at least have a backup idea if this doesn't work out!

btw, if anyone is searching for an outlook bulk emailer, this is what they are using: http://www.americaint.com (don't know if it is good or not though just yet)

Problem will probably be that your client's ISP will block 2000 outgoing emails from going out. Mine will block you if you try to send more than 300 emails in an hour so in the past had to send in groups which is of course a big pain.

About a year ago started using a service so could upload content and schedule when I wanted and move on to next project.
