FrontPage 2000 - 5/21/2006 4:19:41
Using FrontPAge 2000 did some recent updates from Microsoft now crashing. In Safe Mode Not crashing. You name it I've done it: remove, re-install it. Anyone with any ideas?

Welcome.

If it doesn't crash in Safe Mode then it has to be to do with a driver file which doesn't get loaded in SM. If it's only happening since you did the updates then it's obviously a driver file in there.

I suggest you go have a look in here assuming the updates you did were windows updates. You have to be using IE for this to load though. MS don't like other browsers. :)

Thanks Jaybee,

Did the updates through the Office update section Microsoft. Have been back there and also the link you kindly gave me but still no luck.

Thanks again

Warren

Jaybee, Thanks for your persistence. There was some info on the site you directed me to. In the FAQ's I found a response that was similar to mine. None of the info contained in this FAQ came up on search of my PC. Included in this response, however, was a reference to Registry entries. Even though the entries highlighted weren't in my Registry I continued to look through the Registry. I struck gold. In the Registry was two entries for FrontPage. My FrontPage came as a suite and all loaded under the "Office" entry in the Registry. At some point in time, be it with the updates or my reloading and doing a repair, FrontPage loaded autonomously in the Regisrty, thus the two entries for FronPage. I copied then deleted both FrontPage entries in the Registry. Started FrontPage and now it is back to normal. I feel I am due for an upgrade but it is too close to the Vista release. Again thanks for your assistance and persistence. Best wishes Rabbit (Warren)

Now I have Registry entry problems. With the Add-ins invoked in FrontPage we crash again. Once I remove the new entry showing the add-inns in the Registry FrontPage opens without crashing. So long as I dont use the add-ins. Add-ins are Microsoft downloads also. I have posted a question for this prob on the Microsoft site you gave me as a link.:)
