website hacked? - 5/23/2006 11:16:51
Went too look at a simple website that I created for a friend a while back and when I loaded the website in frontpage I found this (Below) had been added to the default page. I did not do this.

<OBJECT type="application/x-oleobject"CLASSID="CLSID:737B3C44-B655-3291-D39C-18D376899A5A"></OBJECT>

And every HTML page now has a corresponding page with a executable extensions. Every one of these exe files are all the same size (68K) also.

I called my host and talked to Tech support. The only thing the guy would say was I don't see anything. He was using Wt_Ftp_Le and the files do not show up in this program.

I uploaded a fake exe and I could see that in this Wt_Ftp_Le but I could not see the other exe files.

But that does not mean that these files are not there as I have downloaded these files to my computer at home.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening on a frontpage website before?

Thanks in advance.

It looks like someone has tried to add flash or an active X object to the page. Have you got a link?

Are you sure you've not accidentally hit an insert something or other or that your friend hasn't been trying to add stuff to his site?

Thank You for the fast reply.

I am the only one that has done anything to the website. It was designed to be very simple as I always have done real good in the search engines with the simple pages.

I will go back and add the code back to the default page. If you look at the upper left hand corner of the page you will see what happens when this code is there.

Below is a link to the site.

http://www.asphalt-maintenance.com

I just do not understand the all of the html pages now having a coressponding executable that is almost the same as the html page name. Except that they are in a old dos format (8,3) only eight characters.

When I click on the executable pages Frontpage comes back with an error message stating that:

there is no editor configured for exe
do you want to save (filename) to disk?

These executables do seem to have been compiled by a windows product, because I have opened them in my ascii editor and have found kernel32.dll listed in the executable itself. But I cannot find much of anything else inside the executable files except this.

The only thing that I do when I go to this site is to clean up the results from the form that are left on the server.

Thank again
