I have just put together a family website at the following address:
http://www.oconnors2nz.com for family and friends back home in the UK.
There is some work still to be done, but some general comments would be appreciated please.

Oh and I have just checked in Firefox and good 'ol Front Page Strikes again! I will be sorting this out later today.

I think I will also be removing that main picture on the homepage too as this might prolong load time. Any feedback appreciated - thanks.

Don't resize images in HTML. If you use thumbnails, create separate small images for that use. Those small images on the right are huge in filesize and dimension—you have just resized them to look smaller.

I won't comment on the rest of the page until you fix this problem.

Yes there is a real problem with the photos. If you just use FP to resize them, although you see a thumbnail on the page, the full size picture is what actually loads. I'm on very fast broadband and those tiny images still crawled in.

As Anders said you need really to resize the images to what you need in a graphics package.

There is a really quick thumbnailer I use on occasion rather than having to fire up Photoshop, and it's free..

Did you post that before seeing my reply? The images are still enormous and crawling in.

Are you sure you're allowed use that sunset image from Windows XP? Isn't it copyrighted? Here are some free sunset-related stock photos you can use from sxc.hu: Nature / Sunsets
