Hi there! First of all, check all of the validation errors http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fmovingcolor.net%2Findex.html what I'd suggest is putting everything inside a CSS and reference style information from there rather than having it embedded in the HTML. I don't like the top menu bar with the images for links, these take a time to load and could simply be reproduced in text and formatted. The contact page could display a form instead of a spam-friendly e-mail address? The page titles should be uniform too, such as MOVING COLOR - Home and MOVING COLOR - Products. Try not to have too much in CAPS, bit too shouty. Since it's a site selling colourful products, why is 95% in grey tones? Consider a much brighter colour selection.

p.s. those Northern Lights tiles are pretty freaky!! It does look slightly like a cell block shower!

Don't be upset. [:)]

The website is nice and functional. The minimalistic design complements (doesn't overpower) the logo and the branding.

What it's lacking in usability terms is a clear statement on what the website is about. The slogan isn't enough.

So, you're planning a redesign. There are many reasons for it and only the people behind the company know what they expect from the website. It's all about what kind of company image the website is trying to convey, and how graphic design and copy are used to communicate.

I can't really comment on the design because we don't know the company behind it. I don't know the message the website is trying to convey. But is that the where you think the design is lacking, there is no visual message?

I don't think the grey tones are a problem. It's just one of the solutions the designer came up with. But your message can be a lot stronger with more color. Emigre is an example.

I appreciate the comment.... basically what's happening is I am freelancing my marketing skills and we (my friend (the VP) and I) are trying to convience the CEO/Pres to make the website upgrade a priorty. You comments are helpful.... So thank you...

Thats why I love this place.

Personally, I like the product and am building a new home and am thinking about using it. From a consumer (user)viewpoint, which is the way all sites should be viewed, I would like more explanation as to what the product is, and some pictures of installations and use in kitchens, baths, etc. to give more ideas and examples for use. FYI: The Emigre site is one I would immediately leave as a consumer. It is too busy and I couldn't figure out what they were selling at all. Consumers want simple, easy sites - they are too busy to have to figure things out when they can just choose one of 1,000s of other sites selling the same or similar products.
These are some of the issues we are working with in designing our new site, which I am doing myself after spending over 2 years and tens of thousands of dollars on so-called professionals and the site not being either admin or consumer friendly. Good luck!

corvettelady.....thank you for that.... i want to expand the showcase section and show the progression of the tile a little more clearly. there is some but i don't feel it does the product justice. [:D]

Emigre looks like that because it's targeted for professionals of their field. They have taken this into account in their design. To increase sales, they have chosen to be “cool among the pros” rather than easy for the rest of the public.

Sorry, it was a bad choice for an example site, but what I wanted to show was the strong use of color.

Maybe Sandisk is a better example?
