Art site - 6/23/2006 0:09:16

This is the beginning of my sister's site.

It was a white background but the black looked so much better that I changed it last weekend.

It's going to end up with about 15 galleries, each with 9 pics.

The pics on the home page will be replaced too.

I suggested to her that her biography be one or two sentences long, so as to not take the focus away from her art.

What is your overall impression of the site?

Nice site but you need some more content on there.

I agree you don't want to distract from her artwork but you do need some info on there and people will go to the Gallery tab to have a proper look through her work.

On the clients page for example, I'd want to know more and what, so those pics could be examples she's been commissioned to do plus a bit about the brief and a bit about the client, If you have client testimonials put them on there.

On her page I'd want to know more about her, her training, her inspiration etc. It doesn't have to go on and on but something would be nice and it'll help with your search results.

15 galleries might be overkill. Not sure if people are going to bother looking through 135 pics. Unless the idea is to sell them online I'd reduce it and go with and go with 3 galleries at most with her absolute best examples.

I disagree there - thats the beauty of a web site - you can put so much info on it - no one has to look at it all but if she has that much - why not?

Maybe it's just me with a short attention span. If the galleries are labelled by subject than I will agree that people may go and look at the ones further down the page but I'd be willing to bet that if they're all general categories or all called Gallery 1 Gallery 2 etc that the lower ones won't get many hits.
