Edit Photoshop text in FrontPage? - 6/24/2006 13:08:49
Hi, I am using Photoshop cs2 9.0. When I download a template that I purchased that was designed in photoshop, I can edit the text in frontpage. However, when I open the PSD file in Photoshop, then click Save for Web, the text becomes part of the images. Is there a way to tell photoshop to save the text as text and put whatever image is behind it as a background image?

Make sure you have layers visible. The text should be on its own layer.

I have the same problem. All of my layers ARE "visible", and all of my text is in it's own layer.

Now what? I read on the web elsewhere that when you use "Convert to Web" it does this problem of converting text to images.
Thereby, convert to web is only apparently for images. But, apparently there is a way, cause me and the guy above have this template and the HTML is selectable when viewing in a browser, so it's not converted to an image like the convert to web option is doing to us.

On a side note, I hate editing psd templates, it's not as user friendly as doing it in DreamWeaver say.
One question if someone could answer quickly. In photoshop how do you make your Template page longer (I need to add more stuff on some pages) without moving every single layer manually after you've changed the image size? Like, I want to just move my bottom layer bar down but not anything else above. In otherwords, I want the bottom of my page to get longer without me having space up top which what occurs when I change the image size.

Thanks.... :)

Well, I found this tutorial.... http://www.templatesbox.com/tutorials/dreamweaver/tutorial5.htm
But, I dont think this is the way they do it. Cause the text is still in the PSD file. Why even have text there if you can't transport it?

Another dumb question..... Why is it that in the Original Template the content is centered in the browser, but on my edited one it is left aligned when viewing in a browser?
Of course I know I can change this in the html by adding an underlying Table or something (hadn't done this in awhile, so forgive my memory), but they must have done something to have done it automatically?

Thoughts?

Oh, and why aren't my menu button Rollovers not working anymore? All I did was change the text and the name of each layer (the Top and Over buttons)?
Also, when I move my mouse over the menu's in the browser, the "Alt" text still say's the original, rather than my text changes.

UPDATE: The Rollover buttons work again when I open the psd file in ImageReady and then optimize to html.
But, one problem, when I put the mouse over the button, not only does the rollover image work, but a search box and a text box "disappears" at the same time. That's not good I think? Any thoughts? p.s. the text is still images when converting with ImageReady.

Oh, and also on the Template I edited, when I did the same in IR, I rollover with my mouse and other images through the page "bounce around, disappear, etc. ????
