XP Home and IIS - 11/4/2001 15:24:00
If you need to run IIS on your local machine to test db connections and what not, you will need to buy Windows XP Pro rather than XP Home. If you have a remote server to publish to, it doesn't matter. Here's the MSKnowBase

Hi Scott!

I think that MS Knowledge Base Article might be somewhat misleading........

Look here first.....

PWS can be installed on XP Home but is not supported by MS. See here....

Internet Information Services (IIS 5.1) is included with XP Home but you have to install it from the CD.

and see this XP home documentation...

Rian,

Gotta love MS! Thanks for the head's up! Mr. Gates must need the extra bread to pay for all the lawyers....

Thanks,
Scott
