Please read very carefully the License Agreements for any sites that offer Free image downloads. You'd be surprised at what you can and cannot do with those images!

Not really! You'd be surprised how people perceive the word FREE!
In this instance you have a site stating free image downloads. Sure the downloads are free, but the use of the images is limited or restricted depending on the site and the content of the image you are downloading.
Were you being sarcastic? ;)
I'm hoping to prevent someone from utilizing a FREE image download and then finding themselves in trouble somewhere down the line.

The reason I bring up the terms of use issue is due to technologies that are in place to prevent misuse. For one, digital watermarks. Most professional photographers and the brokers who are promoting their images online, utilize some form of digital watermarking.
Digital watermarks are a way for original works to be protected from misuse. There is a code that is embedded in the image and only the software that created it can read it. It is password protected. The software can be configured to scan for this code and present you with a list of links as to where these images are on the Internet.
Sure, free images are great to have access to. Just be sure you understand the principle behind using free images. Most of these free image sites require this...
"A link (or textural credit in non-web applications) to this site is required where an image is used. Acceptable credits include image: www freeimages.co.uk or a hyperlink to the URL http //www freeimages.co.uk. The credit shall be located in a suitably readable font on the same page (or a facing page) as the image; or in a 'credits/references' section in printed materials. Alternatively you may credit 'image: size-isnt-everything.co.uk' if you feel the name 'freeimages' is not suitable for your publication."
