Just took a quick look at the Home page - the side to side scrolling is annoying. Nice color scheme.
I'll look more in a while...

Well, since no one loves me.

I am going to attempt to take advantage of Thomas's new tweeking service.

The issues I am concerned about, since I like the layout, are the NN and screen resolution issues.

They can be a bear.

Hi,

Looks very smart but I would make the white of your background a lot wider as it's tiling and giving a strange look on a lot of the pages.

Cheers

Hi RMG,

Looks pretty good (in IE) I can't see any content at all for the home page in NS 4.7, just the header. Once inside it seems ok??? The drop down menus (left upper) are much smaller in NS than IE, almost unreadable. Overall the pages are fairly consistant between NS and IE with some minor diferences. For example on the DIY Projects page the grid of the table shows in IE but not in NS (small potatoes). I'm also not sure about that warmlyyours plug just kidding, my company makes a competing product.

EWD -> RE: Can you guys run this through for me? (10/23/2001 20:09:00)

In IE5.5 at 800x600 the center table lays over the right side blue area. Looks weird. There's also something strange that keeps showing up directly under the blue bar that has "Ask the remodelers forum" etc in it. Like a blackish bar or something. Anyone else see that? It disappears if you scroll down then back up.

Mike54 -> RE: Can you guys run this through for me? (10/23/2001 20:33:00)

EWD,

I think the table overlapping like that is part of the design - it does the same at 1024x768 too. As for the blackish bar, can't see it.

The overlap was just something to take it away from a boxed look.

Trying something different.

The bar with our forum link in it is just a navy background.

I'll look at it a little deeper.

Also, does arial 1 pt show up better than verdana 1 pt on NN 4.7 ?

EWD -> RE: Can you guys run this through for me? (10/23/2001 22:03:00)

Ok, I think the blackish thing I was seeing was caused by a memory problem on my machine, I had like 10 applications open when I was looking at it!

Did you change the home page tonight? I like it, looks good. How come one of the pages is a frames page? Still not crazy about the overlapping table thing, kinda looks more like an error to me. Maybe if it was somehow finished off it would look more intentional like it was part of the design and not floating on top of it. But that's just me!

**** About 10 times **** Freaking NN4.7 aaaargh!

**** The frames pages go off site to my contractor referral. How many folks do you think can't read frames. Do folks generally prefer it to open a new browser?****

***** I've tried a ton of different backgrounds, all leaving it looking boxed in ( square)

I am WAY open for suggestions. Its just a 520 pixel table set on a background image.

I had to redo about 50 pages all night. Have 200 more to go to get the damned thing to look right in NN4.7, which I finally downloaded yesterday..

Did I say aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh? !!!

Thanks for the input. ****

RMG,

A quick follow up. I now see content on the home page in NS.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ! You cost me 14 hours of work with that comment.

It was weird how small and unreadable the text and the dropdown were. Tried like heck to fix it, then had to create pages instead.

But, a step forward is always a good thing. !

I'd center the content - it looks kinda strange all on the left?

You guys win this one.

My attempt at something different turned out to be a bad idea.

Content centered and the offset is history on the homepage. ( I'm keeping it for now inside the site )

Thanks a LOT for the input guys and gals.

Nice site. Good navigation and layout.

I followed this link: http://www.startremodeling.com/DIY_Forum.htm

only to find that page trapped within a frame with the same header or banner.

You should either:

a) remove the top frame
b) keep the top frame and remove the header contents on the forum page.

Otherwise everything else looks good to me.

I am using IE 6.0.2600
and Windows XP Professional

All pages seem to load quick and are consistent.

Very Nice Site! How's your traffic? I have a site called "Websites4Contractors", maybe we should talk?

Anyway,

Best of luck to you!
