Edge Posts: 164 Joined: 10/12/2004 From: South Carolina Status: offline	#top in Opera - 6/28/2006 12:20:43 I do not know if this is common knowledge, but I recently noticed that the #top hyperlink does not work in Opera. #top works fine in IE and FF, but not Opera, at least the version 9 I recently downloaded. So I created a bookmark at the very top call "toppage" and hyperlinked to #toppage and it works in all three browsers. Ed _____________________________ Time is short, are you ready?

When I want a link at the bottom of the page that says "Top", I would highlight the word "Top" and set up a hyperlink by typing in #top (see photo below). In IE and FF, clicking on the hyperlink will take you to the top of the page without setting any special bookmark. But this does not work for Opera. Here is a page that works in both IE and FF: http://www.bennygordon.us/archives/release_062006_old.htm So as I built the page, I went to the top and named a bookmark called "toppage". Then I set up the hyperlink using the named bookmarks (see photo below). Here is the page that now works in all three browswers: http://www.bennygordon.us/archives/release_062806.htm When I view the source of the "toppage" page, I see the name="" you were talking about. I do not see anything like that when I just typed #top into the hyperlink address. I can't figure out how your old example is working in FF and IE - and it is definitely working! Usually what you'd get is the #top for example either referring to a link as per your second example or referring to an element with the id or name of "top" but for the life of me I can't see any in there! It's spooky.... you're old webpage is obviously haunted that's the only logical explanation oh apart from that I'm going blind!
