Website evaluation - 10/30/2001 17:40:00
Please evaluate my latest FrontPage 2000 website. It is very conservative because it was done for a church. I did have hover buttons on the navigation words so they would change color from black to blue. I have to keep the static black color and go without hover buttons for now because with the hover buttons in place .....I had a problem with the fact that when you place the cursor over the hover button the small hand icon that appears when the cursor is over a link did not appear....it just remained an arrow...although it would go to the link when clicked. Anyhow, here is the URL http://www.geocities.com/gcc06360

Hi, Hullodare!

Some quick thoughts on this...

First off, you are much better off without the hover buttons. They not only are slower to load and don't show the "hand", they also will periodically crash browsers.

I like the plain design, yet it still is crying out for some color. Consider making the cross a golden yellow -- it'll work well with the current colors and photos.

The "pastor" page I would use as the home page. Add the names of the Pastor and Organist into the text, besides being in the graphic.

For the navigation, keep all the page names on each page. The image for the page being viewed could be done in that same gold color.

You might want to enclose the text in a table cell with a specified width. I looked at the History page (not much time, sorry) and the text runs over the right side dark gray area at 1024x768. Nice look, LB's idea of adding the color would be perfect.

Thank you for the advice on the resolution at 1024x 768. I fixed the side stripe gif. I will consider making the cross gold, although I do like the simplicity of the current cross.

Looking Good! Still would love to see the cross stand out with a warm golden light. Right now the "feel" of the page to me is a little start and cold. A golden cross would make it so much more warm and inviting. I wish we could sell you on it!

The navigation moves a little left and right as I go from page to page (1024x768). If it's in a table I would make sure the alignment is consistent.

Good job!

Thank you for the great advice...I'll have a look at the tables and make some adjustments.
