in2golfz -> Review message board (11/6/2001 14:24:00)

I have the message board pretty much complete at http://www.theichain.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi and will work on the FP pages in the near future. Please tell me what you think. And if you are needing a message board for your community, or business site, we can help with the installation. Tell me what you think about the colors etc,as they wil determine the web colors in the future.

Thanks alot!

Looks good - makes me think about upgrading to the next version of iB.

Yeah this is the iB3.7 beta and their is a iB3 RC (Release Candidate) which means the full Gold version is due out soon. It's a smart message board system and totally customizable. I really like it!

I find the black text on blue background and blue links on blue background hard to read. Other than that it looks nice.

I am actually changing the colors to go with a template I bought from the template store. I also want to incorporate it inside the web. How do I do this? I am also having trouble with a break out box moving down on the Ikonboard page. Please check my errors and general problems as this is the first template I have used.

Thanks!

Ikonboard is extremely easy to customise to fit within your design. All you need to do is edit the template from within the admin area.

Basically this involves no more than copying the 'insert Ikonboard' bit (cannot remember the exact wording just now, but you will see it) into a page from your template, add the style sheet from the Ikonboard template to the head of your template page and copy the page HTML into the template area in Admin. You can test it from there before you publish and can reset to the default at any time.

You will also need to ensure that the file paths of any images or links in your template page are correct from the location in the cgi-bin, sometimes using absolute URLs is the easiest way to do this. FP elements in the page (eg navigation, include pages etc) may not work either so they will need to be replaced with more generic stuff.

Sometimes, depending on the page layout, you need to alter the default width of the Ikonboard table, this can be done in Edit Settings or Edit Style in the Admin area, I forget which one.

BTW I have a small collection of about 25 animal avatars that I made for an Ikonboard install ages ago - mainly dogs and cats - if you want me to send them to you.

Now for anther question. When I type info in the middle of the template the breakout box on the left side goes down an no longer aligns like it is suppose too. Any ideas? It is really noticable on the ikonboard link on the nav bar where I have alot of text typed.
