XP Pro Desktop Icons too Small - 7/15/2006 17:54:39
Hello Everyone,

Just installed a BFG GeForce 7800 GS OC AGP 8X 256MB GDDR3 Video Card which consumes mucho power but otherwise works as advertised.

As before, my screen resolution is configured at 1024x768 but the desktop icons are now very tiny. Cruised through display properties with no joy.

Revelations appreciated :)

1) Get your eyes tested and invest in some stronger specs :) :)

2) Alternatively, use the 'Accessibility Options' in the control to make the icons bigger (pick the 'I am blind or have difficulty seeing things on screen' option and it lets you choose what size icons you want)

Womble,

Guess I really DO need to get my eyes checked because I can't "see" any reference to Icons in the Control Panel Accessiblity Options screen under any of the five tabs - Keyboard, Sounds, Display, Mouse & General.

Clarification, if you please :)

Sorry - I missed a step or two there! On the main accessibility option page under 'pick a task', click 'configure Windows to work for your vision, hearing, and mobility needs'. That starts up the accessibility wizard. You can just click 'next' until you get to the one that says 'set wizard options' - that's the one where you select 'I am blind or have difficulty seeing things on screen'.

My apologies for the confusion.

Womble,

Whoops - Found the problem! I'm running two monitors; one had a screen resolution of 1024x768 while the other (with the icons) was set at 1280x1024.

All better now. Appreciate your input :)

No probs. Least you know what to do now when advancing age does start to creep up on you. :) :)

Ooooo, that's a nice card, plus BFG is about the best card mfc in terms of tech support. What power supply are you running?

nVidia has a very nice control panel (nview) for managing dual monitors :)

Well all I can say is it serves you right for being such a flash harry and running two monitors. You deserve all the shrunken icons you get. :)
