http://www.leisure-ideas.com

its a database driven site with customer reviews modelled on Amazon.com.

The first page concerns me the most - need some depth in the graphics

Any tips and advise gratefully received

Micah

no sweets 'til after your tea! (sorry, you did say to treat you like a child...)

i think it looks fine; the graphics are ok. the only thing i thought odd was the blue menu bar at the left - it seems to peter out under the e-news section. why not keep it going? it would just maintain the graphical theme a bit better. oh and the image for thbabysitting link underneath didn't work.

anyhting else? spelling:

From Saturday 1st December you can know enter these museums (and many others free of charge): [<-- text smaller?]
------------------------------------

other than that, cool.

The site was super slow. Over 30 seconds to get anything and then at least another 30 seconds to totally load.
The interior pages are just as bad. I am on a cable modem and never wait form more than a couple of seconds for anything.

Sorry I had to answer a bunch of phone call and am just getting back to this.

It loaded much faster than that for me on an ordinary modem connection which tells me it is connected at 45.333 bps though I usually don't believe it.

I think it looks good. Just two comments.

First I think it could do with a splash of comething other than blue. It needs a little lift or something. Perhaps a small amount of yellow somewhere would do it? I would perhaps add a fine yellow line over the menu bar and over the bit that says enews and pick it up in Yellow text on the dark blue bars in the page - such as the one that says 'Leisure-Ideas News'. Also the blue that enews is on jars a little with the other blues on the page.

The other comment is on the eating out menu - for goodness sake get something other than 'Find a McDonalds' on there fast - finding only that would be enough to keep me out of the region forever!!! There must be something else to eat other than Big Macs!

Actually I know there are, I have had a few really nice meals in that part of the world. One of the nicest and most peaceful weekends away I ever spent was in a pub/inn called 'The Catherine Wheel' in Shrewton in Wiltshire. It was years ago, it was while I was there that I got word that I had passed my final exams in college so I always remember it. I wonder is it still there?

On a more serious note I would get that link out of my main navigation bar - it takes people off to another site which an item in the main navigation should never do. Perhaps put it as a link in the left column or something.
