No power and yet... - 7/18/2006 15:08:13
I just received a laptop through the post that I have to fix. It wasn't plugged in and didn't have the battery in it, but I thought I'd press the power button anyway... ... and Hey Presto! it booted up. I have no idea how a laptop with no obvious source of power that has been turned off since Saturday (when it was sent) managed to do that. Perhaps it's something stupid??? It is attached to the "slice" docking station, but they take power not give it, and there's no battery in it. Life has such power to amaze!

Unfortunately, it's not a miracle. I had a poke around. It's a new model of laptop in the series, and with this one they've "hidden" an extra battery in the docking station. Rats. I was looking forward to being high priest of the church of the batteryless laptop.
