tjpitches -> Site Upgrades with FP 2003 (7/27/2006 13:22:01)
|
hi all! it's been a couple years since many of you helped me create a site for our nonprofit adoption agency. i am back for some advice and opinions ... i have recently upgraded to FP 2003. my current site, www.sunnyridge.org, IMO, was very slick looking a few years ago. but now i think that it lacks the sizzle that many sites have nowadays. for one, it uses SHARED BORDERS. i have read in many places that this technology is being phased out, and it is much better to use INCLUDES or DYNAMIC WEB TEMPLATES to get the consistant information in terms of navigation, copyright, etc.) shared borders have done me right -- they did what i wanted them to do regarding my navigation on the left hand side. but i've never been happy with the static menu, though. i would like to have a menu on TOP that has FOUR or FIVE menu items, with DROP DOWN submenus on MOUSEOVER. QUESTION: is this something FP2003 can do easily? i also downloaded a TRIAL version of ALLWEBMENUS 4.1. after about 30 minutes of playing around i was able to create in the trial what i wanted to do -- but i think i need to PURCHASE in order to transfer to my site. should i purchase ALLWEBMENUS or can i do this in FP2003? QUESTION: as you review my site, do you think i would benefit from CSS? can FP2003 help me create this easily? thanks to all who take the time to respond -- this is THE best board for practical help i've ever found ... tj
