SerenityNet -> Logo Contest - how and where to start one (7/29/2006 1:10:30)
|
A few weeks ago I helped a charity group register their domain names and I stuck up a quick template site (womenandfamily) they can use until they want to have it professionally done. But now I'm asked about getting a logo created. I've seen suggestions here about a logo contest being a cost effective way of getting a logo. They want something they can use on business cards, in print (newspaper, brochures, yellow pages, etc.), and on the web in the standard selection of color, greyscale, and B&W copy. So I have a few questions... - where is it best to post a logo contest - what rules or specifications are best given (or not given) - winning amount (50, 75, 100 ?) to get a good selection - what have i forgotten Any guidance you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andrew PS. Below I've pasted a portion of the note sent to me, in the hope it might help point me in the right direction. quote:
We are a group made up of representatives of different organizations that help women in different crisis situations. We joined forces to be able to minister to women and families more effectively by being able to refer them to the specific ministry that would help with their exact need. We need a logo that would incorporate our name and give a feeling of hope in desperate situations. We have three possible ideas. 1. We thought about the idea of using line drawings of people splashed in bright colors like reds and blues and yellows so that we wouldn't have to worry about the people in the picture being black, hispanic, white or whatever. We want it to represent every nation. Then we thought of having giant hands underneath the people sort of giving them a stage to play on. The hands would represent God holding us all up. 2. You know how kids in athletic events stand in a circle facing each other and one kid puts one hand out then the next kid puts a hand on top of the first one and one and one till all the hands are piled on top of each other. We thought about an arial view of that with a cross placed in the picture in the middle of the top hand. 3. We thought of a bridge made of a cross and people walking on it over a deep chasm. We don't have our heart set on anything in particular and if the artist could think of something better we are open to suggestions. We are not sure about colors to use either.
