tdg -> Installing Office200 -over- FP2002? (8/3/2006 10:08:54)

Good Morning: I've looked through a number of earlier post, read a lot of variations on my basic question... but, unfortunately couldn't zero in on an answer.

One of our office computers has a copy of FrontPage2002 installed and heavily used. I've been asked to install a copy of our Office2000 in this same machine (Primarily to read & write *.xl files).

My fear... will installing the older Office -over- the newer FP trash FrontPage?

Inquiring minds (and me too) want to know. [:)]

Thanks in advance to any and all feedback.

Some versions of Office don't come with FP, I assume yours does.

When you install Office, check the custom install option and then uncheck FrontPage from the list of options.

Once you're done, check to see if FP is working OK. It may not as there are some files that might get overwritten. If that's the case, reinstall FP2002 and you should be OK.

If there is still a problem, uninstall both. Install Office without FP, then install FP2002. That ought to work.

I have two different version of FP on my computer. I shot it to a different install directory. Been this way for over a year now.

Take care,

Brian

Yes, I have as well but I've always installed a later version over the earlier one. I'm not sure how tightly linked the Office shared files are as I always disable those features. It may be OK but it may not which is why I've given the various scenarios. Fingers crossed for the easy way. [:D]
