caching issues - 8/3/2006 13:55:12
My friend has her jewelry store at e-bay and her domain names (elijewelry.com and elijewelry.net) forwarded to her e-bay store. I went to the url before it has propigated the web and got a 400 error page. No problem. But now, weeks later, I still get the error page. I've tried clearing my cache, history, CTRL+F5, and everything I can think of. I get the error page in every brower I have installed, except for Off-by-One. From work, the domain forwards fine. Just not from home. I can't figure it out. 1) Can some of you please try the domains and tell me if they forward to her e-bay store? 2) Any ideas on what's going on with me? Could it be Comcast? I just don't know. Thanks, Andrew

ISP Caches shouldn't persist for more than an hour, or at most a day (are you on AOL?? Tut tut:) Try using a proxy https://www.megaproxy.com/freesurf/ and see what happens. If it works through the proxy then it's the ISP cache.

It works on other pc's in the house without any problem, it works through the proxy, and it works on any other machine I've tried. It just won't work on my main home PC. It must be cached on the pc somewhere. (And no, I don't do AOL:-) I can't figure it out though. I've revised history, tossed my cookies, let go the temporary files, and set IE to look for new versions with each visit. I've done the same with Firefox. I've run utilities, like ccleaner, to clear my history. But yet IE, Firefox, and Netscape give me the 400 error page when I try the URL. And the error page pops up in an eyeblink or less, like the browser isn't even looking. I get the error under my wife's login or my login. However, on the same PC, the OffbyOne browser forwards properly. I can ping the URL. It must be the cache, but I'm clueless on where it is hiding. And why IE, Firefox, and Netscape, but not OffbyOne? Ideas?
