bbigham -> frontpg.lck error message -- should my server know about this? (8/7/2006 2:30:50)

Hi, all.... I've been with the same server (halfpricehosting) for about 7 years now but lately they've been absolutely awful. Service is terrible (can't ever get anyone on the phone and after waiting on hold for 15 minutes or so they automatically switch me to a 'leave a number and we'll call you back' message. Then, they never call back.) Now, I'm having another problem. One of our sites goes down EVERY NIGHT and I if I try to access it through FP, I get a message: "Server error. Cannot open file "frontpg.lck" for reading." I've Googled that message and got numerous pages but a lot of contradictory info. From what I understand, though, this is a server issue. Yet, my server (who finally got back to me via their online question/answer function) says they have no idea what it means. Obviously, I'm going to switch servers (probably I'll got with Outfront hosting) but I am still very curious. Is anyone here familiar with that error message and is it something that I should expect my server to know about? I don't want to have unrealistic expectations about what my server support people should or shouldn't know about fp! Any info you can offer would be GREATLY appreciated! Barbara
