We're starting up a new forum devoted to Expression Web Designer today. You can get the free beta version of Expression Web Designer at the url below.

http://www.microsoft.com/products/expression/en/web_designer/wd_free_trial.aspx

Try it. I think you'll like it. :)

Ooooh gosh, first post. I'm honoured!

Tom if you don't mind I'm going to move that thread we had a while back about Expressions in here as it demonstrates that us sceptics are actually pretty impressed.

I have read the MS EWD group posts and I see mentioned that it crashes MS FP on some systems.
Any idea when EWD is to hit the shelfs!!!

On a personal note, i have had no problems using EWD with FP2003.
I can open an EWD site in FP2003 and make/save changes and also ewd will open FP2003 pages where you can make / save changes. I too have heard of some problems but they seem limited.
Release date will be end of the year early 2007! Possibly.

Any idea when the asp.net configuration/website administrator is going to work with EWD? It's seems to be in place but not supported yet. If you drop a login control onto a page and access the common task views there is a link for the administrator but when you to use it, you get a not supported message.

If it works the same in EWD as it does in VWD that will be nice.

I am confused, on the main page of this forum, the description says " .... the next version of FrontPage " I thought Expressions was a totally new Designer program, opposed to a version of FrontPage. but is this actually the next version? i.e. an update with a name change? I am confused over this

Hi Doubletrouble

I'm sure I will be corrected on this but I think EWD is a replacment for FrontPage. So in a way its the next version as there won't be another version of FrontPage.

EWD is like a mix between FrontPage and Visual Web Developer

Again, I could be wrong (And most likly am as always :) )

From today, December 4th, you can pre-order Expression with Amazon! There is two options, upgrade from FP at 89.96 or 269.10 for those never paid.........

No doubt this a FP upgrade and replacement, but there is a lot more in the direction of Visual Web Dev, I think it must be great for those who are familiar with FP and want's to take the next step and work with ASP.NET. It's not necessary to learn a new software, almost the same "good old" with a lot of new tools.

After a few hours Beta, I have pre-ordered!
