jadach -> DRW and EWD (8/10/2006 7:58:19)

I've been using FP for years and have developed countless (rather complicated) applications using MS SQL Server combined with the FP DRW. I am deeply concerned about having to recreate these applications as it doesn't seem as though EWD will allow me to edit these. Is anyone else having anxiety about the switch?

From the design side of things, I like EWD. It's just the asp applications.

There's nothing to stop you continuing to use FP for working with those. If I were you I'd be more worried about the browsers eventually refusing to support some of the FP specials. The Gecko browsers already ignore some FP stuff. Given that IE7 and IE8 are moving towards compliance, it remains to be seen how long Microsoft will support backwards compatibility.

EWD was built from the ground up to support the new database tools of ASP.NET 2.0. In my opinion, once you start using these new tools, you'll never want to go back to DRW. The new tools are incredibly powerful and yet easy to use.

I'm not necessary suggesting that you should recreate all your DRW stuff but it's definitely worth checking out what EWD and ASP.NET 2.0 now offers for database development.
