newbie question (Full Version)

I am a complete amateur and always will be. Inbetween my real job responsibilities, I run a little website for the pleasure of parents and kids of a high school marching band (http://12345678.starpoint.net).

Question: Can someone like me make the switch to Expression with a minimum of muss and fuss, or should I continue with my little DHTML template and call it good?

I love to play with new things, but as my time and experience is limited, it's easier to learn a product that is adapted from another or has some familiar components as opposed to an entirely new system.

EWD is not an entirely new system. It looks and feels very much like FP 2003, and I have used it to edit sites created in FP 2000, 02, and 03.

I have not run into any compatibility issues so far. I'm not saying there cannot be a situation where the code that EWD writes causes some older FP code to misbehave. I'm just saying that I have not seen it happen, and I have been using EWD on FP based sites every day for months now.

You still have access to all of the old FP components if you want them. With the site open in EWD, do Site > Site Settings > Check "Manage site using metadata files."

That tells EWD to start managing your files and FrontPage components exactly the way FrontPage used to.

Would having EWD manage the site the same way FP did be a good thing, or would that be like taking a step back wards?
