cooper -> SEO anyone? (8/11/2006 15:20:28)

My brother-in-law and I run a sporting goods site and it has been good to us over the last year. We started off wanting the site to throw off enough $$$ to cover a utility bill or two. It become a car payment and now it is getting close to where we could see if covering the mortgage.

We are at the point where we would like someone to take a look at the site and make SEO suggestions. I am not looking to trick engines or anything like that, just good solid best practices.

Has anyone hired someone to do this? If so, can you recommend?

You might take a look at Search Engine Optimization for Site Owners and Small Businesses for some ideas. And then maybe contact Martin over atSiteTutor.

Hi, Cooper,

You may want to consider using Site Build It for your business' site. You're going to need the traffic to make the sale. Don't worry about SEO. That's all a lot of tech stuff and chasing after numbers, balancing keywords on the head of a pin, while standing upside down that a business person shouldn't have to worry about. Not to mention throwing a lot of money away. Building great, targeted content is what is going to get the SE's to notice you. SBI takes it from there.

I've had one for 3 months now and my business is growing at a very nice rate, considering it's young age

If you have any questions, let me know. I'm happy to help. [;)]
