hooking printer to wireless system - 8/14/2006 9:43:04
I just bought a new laptop to replace my desktop computer. The problem now is that my HP printer is wired to my desktop and I want to eliminate the desktop. I don't want to hard wire the printer to my laptop so how do I tie the printer to my wireless laptop? To add to the problem, my son has a desktop computer in his bedroom that is tied (hard wired) to our home network through a router so that he can use my printer. I feel like computer technology is passing me by and I am running to try to keep up. I think I am loosing ground though. I just read about a bluetooth dongle being used to connect equipment such as I described. Will it work in this situation? Bob B.

you could use a jet direct box to give your printer a IP address. This way you wouldn't need to use a computer to make your printer work.

It gives your printer a IP address. I will handle the print jobs instead of your computer. http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=760048 They also have a wireless version, but it cost more.
