Computer Locking up, help! - 8/14/2006 14:49:48
So theres quite a story behind this problem...but ill keep it short.

First ill start off with some of my specs:
amd athlon 2600, 1.14 GHz
ati radeon 9800 pro
1 GB ram

Ok so, while playing some games that with my kind of computer i should be getting 100 fps (max) i tend to have gotten 30-60 whenever some action would happen, then recently whenever i asked my computer to load or do something somewhat stresseful it would start locking up and eventually i would have to reboot, then it would just get worse, i couldnt even open a game without locking up. The i reformatted thinking everythign would be fine, it was ok until i loaded up some games again, still locked up. Downloaded some updated motherboard drivers, it seemed to be working a lot better, everything was perfect i was in heaven, until...probly 15 minutes ago while in the midst of playing a game World of Warcraft it locked up after performing so well. Any ideas on what could be happening to my computer? anything sound like its burning out or something?

Do you have your computer overclocked? Which Radeon is it, 128 or 256?

its 128 MB, and im not sure and not too big into the whole overclocking thing, but in the BIOS i set the performance to aggressive

Certainly sounds like you are overheating it - try something less agressive in the bios and try again?

Yes, I would say turn down the resolution on the game.
