Just fooling around - 8/14/2006 15:34:49
Hi All,

I have some cool domain names that I bought over the years. I got this bright idea that I should maybe do something with them :), plus since I have been away I really don't know if I want to do sites for clients.

So here is a site that I was fooling around with:

Let me know if the forum thing is the best interface for people to simply post thier observations.

AHEM!!!

United Kingdom East, West and Central!!!!!

What about the rest of us?

Here's the thing about the UK, we may be small but the atlas is deceptive and you can't walk from one end to the other after lunch. :)

The reason we Brits are obsessed with weather is that for a small island we get a lot of it.

If you're going to regionalise the UK you need to at the very least split it into

South East
South
South West
East
West
Midlands
East Anglia
North East
North West
Wales
Scotland
Northern Ireland

Even then it doesn't cover our weather patterns. Last week I was standing in my back garden in sunshine watching the people across the road running for cover in a downpour. It has to be said that is a very unusual scenario and not one I've met before but it does demonstrate my point nicely.

Just send her a banana - that'll keep her occupied for a while. :)

Actually Jaybee, you forgot to mention the East Midlands. We don't like being lumped in with that common Midlands lot, and as for those Northerners, well.....:)

By the way, I have to say that Charm City Solutions is a killer website. It's simple but unique. Anyway, I was hoping for a little smaller text for the body copy and some more leading...

HI anderskorte,

Thanks! I love doing sites that I don't have to answer to those pesky clients!

Big reason will I don't want any more. They are simply bothersome:)

Hi Barry

Think it would be better to split the UK into just the 4 countries - Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England.

Then you can sub-divide as the weather dictates.

There'll be a lot of subdivisions.

England
----South
--------West Berks
------------West West Berks
------------------North side of the road
------------------South side of the road
:)

Thanks Ian,

I tend to agree with you, bigger regions vs small.

Jaybee, although every hamlet and glenn in the UK has its own unigue weather patterns, (thats why there are so many pubs so folk can discuss what is happining on thier side of the street):) I don't think people would engage the fourum if it is very tightly defined.

Plus I gotta add the rest of the planet:)

Barry

The Arab countries should be easy. 'Hot and sunny with rain possible at certain times of the year'

Polar Regions. 'Remaining cold'

:):):)
