I need to hand off a project - any takers? - 8/16/2006 17:03:48
Quick bit of background first: I started coming to this forum waaaay back in 1999 when I first started dabblling in web design. Friends and family got wind of this and in the years since I've taken on a few paying projects for friends and friends of friends. Every now and then this has branched out a bit further, and for the most part it's been great.

But. (there's always a "but", isn't there?"

Suddenly things in my life are changing, all for the better, but I'm getting incredibly busy. My day job is sort of exploding and the income that goes along with it isn't doing too badly either. I'm also moving into a new home in about 6 weeks time. I've never been this busy in my life!! But I'm in the middle of a project for a very nice client and I simply don't have time to complete it.

The site is for a series of belts and handbags this woman designs, and things are starting to take off for her. I've built what exists thus far using FP2003 and was going to do the shopping cart using StoreFront 5.0 (yes, a bit dated but it still works). I've been hosting her site via a reseller program I have over at Datapipe.com. The StoreFront files have been loaded to the server, but not configured. The database has not been built. The client does not yet have an online merchant account. I have been paid for the work I've done up to this point.

So, if anyone is interested in taking this over - I don't just want to outsource - please PM me and we can discuss the particulars offline. I don't want to just leave this woman hanging since she's so nice, so easy to work with, it's her business we're talking about, and, well, it simply wouldn't be right.

Thanks!!

C'mon guys and gals, there must be someone out there who can quickly complete the shopping cart component for a fairly small site owned by a real nice client. Unfortunately at my "day" job we've recently fired two sales reps and all their clients have been dumped in my lap. Good and bad in that I suppose, but there it is.

I'd love to help this client out with her website. I've been told my PM is not working but in my profile I have it set to accept PMs....not sure what's happening there. Feel free to respond to this thread in any way so that we can discuss the project in more detail!!! I'd love to hand this off within the next few days if possible; get the client's contact info to you, etc.

There are several folks I can think of right off the bat that could do this but finding the time is usually the challenge (at least with me it is anyways).

I personally have customized shopping carts before and it is rarely ever a trivial task and does involve some work; in fact quite a bit at times to ramp up on the project. I'd like to help but as I said, quite busy.

If the timeframe changes and there is not so much of a rush that may draw some more interest.

Can you post a link to what has been done so far?

What does the client have in mind? How many items for the DB? Has the client seen a stock rollout and wants more done? If so what?

I, in a past life :), was a cheer leader for SF until SF6. To take a stock install and tweak it around usually is a 30-40 hour job.

Take care,

Brian

Thanks for all the feedback folks, but it seems she's found a resolution to the situation.
