For a complete beginner it's not a bad site. The best thing you can do immediately is to reduce the size of those pictures which take ages to load. What you've done is used FP to link to them at their native size, which in the case of the guy on the right is 1258.95 KB. FP fools you into thinking it's made the picture smaller but it hasn't, it just shrinks the view of it whilst hanging on to the full size. For example, I use Firefox Browser which allows me to select and view just one image on a page. When I view the picture of the kayak it's 6 times the size of my screen. You need to open your pics in a graphics package and physically resize them down to what you see on the screen then put them back into FP. If you don't have a graphics package you can download The Gimp for free or you can use an online resizer such as this one.
