xx75vulcan -> Javascript being shrinked? (8/21/2006 16:46:32)

Can anyone tell me why the IE 7 Beta, (and I can only assume the final
release as well) takes my javascript and shrinks all the items being displayed,
and makes them appear one-on-top-of-each-other?

Link to my example page: http://www.rockwood.k12.mo.us/bowles/left.htm

If you see it all layed out nicely, and you can click on items, and you
see submenu appear, then it's working correctly. If you see only one
menu, with a bunch of items piled ontop of each other, then you're
seeing what IE 7 is doing to it.

How can I fix this?

Is there an attribute missing?

If this can be done in CSS easily, how do I start? I took on this page from someone else, and I'm not that good with Javascript.
Much thanks!!

Chris

IE7 is still in beta and still being bug fixed. I don't know where you got the menu script from but I suggest you go back and tell them it's not working in IE7 so they have a chance to fix it before IE7 gets rolled out.

However, if you look at that code, it's absolutely full of tweaks to make it work in one browser or another so even if you get an IE7 fix, be prepared for it not to work right in IE8 or the next version of Opera or Firefox.

It can be done in css but again it's not brilliant. You can take a look at some on Stu Nichols CSS Play site but make sure you read the bit underneath which says what it's been tested in.

Other than that, go look at some other JS menus at Dynamic Drive and see if they have IE7 proofed any.
