Lyle Ronglien -> ! The server "" timed out (8/22/2006 15:59:54)

Can't seem to figure out why I'm getting error messages and having problems.

I launch FP, then go to open web from My Documents/My Webs and I get this message:

! The server "" timed out. The current request did not complete successfully.

Same message when I just go to publish. I can view all the pages and files that are on the web server but not my local files.

In the Folders View List in FP, all I get is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Lyle Ronglien\My Documents\My Webs\TheGuitar.net
but nothing under it where sub folders should be, and nothing to the right in contents view.

If I go to Navigation View, I see the "tree" of my web. If I double-click on a page there, I can open it and edit. But I can't save. I get this message when I try to save it:

! An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files. Authors - if authoring against a web server, please contact the webmaster for this server's site. Webmasters - please see the server's system log for more details.

I'm very confused at this point why I can't open or save. I think it has something to do with permissions? If I go to My Documents, My Webs, and then into my web and find a htm page, I choose "Open with Frontpage" and then I get a message that I don't have permission. BUT that doesn't happen to all the pages in my web....

It looks like you don't have a web setup on your local machine. Try publishing your files to "http://localhost" as well as browsing to that same site. That should be better if your local machine is currently capable of serving the files. They just don't work properly without the "http://" stuff and you can't get them correctly using "C:\" stuff.

I've been using FP this same since 1998. I don't know why I'm having trouble with it now.
