did you know that you're supposed to compact your folders in thunderbird to finally get rid of deleted messages? otherwise you have messages/junk/spam marked as deleted but they still remain in your email folders - unseen - but possibly taking up huge amounts of space and even resluting in your inbox taking ages(minutes) to load!!!
i know - it happened to me :(

anyway, all you need to do is compact your folders every week or so like this

resluting
Resluting indeed. No I had no idea and that's probably why my emails are taking so long to load there must be thousands in there. It also answers the question of why my backup software keeps backing up stuff that's not there.

Good tip Dave.

/nips off to compact

(Will any old tool do? Can I just use a fork to squash 'em down, or do I need a special implement? :))

Thanks Dave,

I've just compacted them and it instantly made Thunderbird open faster!
