cbernad -> Where is everything??? (11/11/2001 18:39:00)

Would you guys mind looking at this page:

http://home.woh.rr.com/ohiopoint/ashleywebb/

and tell me WHY the banner and the menu on the left are NOT showing up? I can see them in FP under normal view, but I loose the menu in preview and the web site show neither!

Thanks,
C

Which version of FP are you using?
Server extensions installed on host?

In NN4.7 what I see is a menu with two buttons missing. According to the source code the menu is the only thing on the page.

There are two possible typos in the top part of the menu JavaScript.

For image #2, it is looking for a folder called imgaes which I assume should be images.

And are you sure image #5 is fiq.jpg rather than faq.jpg?

It's not showing up at all in IE. Try putting the button dimensions in the code.

FP2000

Yeah, you are right ... two typos ... but that isn't causing the problem in IE.

I hadn't thought to try it in NN. You're right. I'll try putting some dimentions in tomorrow and see if that helps out the IE.

Did you notice that the menu items in NN due some funky things when you click on them? They are not hyper-links so I'm not sure what is going on there.

I tried out the Mighty Mouse-over Machine to do the menu. You got a easier option?

Gil -> RE: Where is everything??? (11/11/2001 22:19:00)

You have the width attribute for a table set like: <table width=NaN NaN isn't a valid width setting. Also you have a <TD> not closed

The Mighty Mouseover machine is about as easy as it gets. Just add your button widths and heights, correct the typos, and I think you'll be OK.

I didn't try clicking on the links...they're not going anywhere, yet, right? If you want a rollover without a link, place a # (number sign) where the link would normally appear.

cbernad -> RE: Where is everything??? (11/12/2001 20:44:00)

Thanks ... it's working great now. Just two quick questions:

Why is the mouse_off button refrenced in both the JAVA script and the body section? Does the body section make the button show up initially and then the refrence in the JAVA script is to turn it BACK to the off pix after the mouseover has turned it into the ON pix?

Why can I not copy directly from the mightly mouseover machine into my HTML code? When I do, all of the pointed parenthesis (sorry, I can't remember what they are called) are changed into letters (like &ag . I can usually get around stuff like that by choosing "paste special" but that option isn't available when copying from a text format like the machine.

Thanks for your help,
C

always paste into notepad first and then copy and paste into html view

cbernad -> RE: Where is everything??? (11/12/2001 20:16:00)

You know, the only problem with that is that I lost notepad when I upgraded to Win ME and haven't been able to figure out how to get it back.

Take your pick from the free text editors here:

EditPad is one I like.

I agree with abbeyvet - I downloaded Editpad the other day and have been very pleased.

The link she posted takes you to a page about EditPad Classic, which is still available but no longer being supported. There is also an EditPad Lite - also free.

Now if I could just figure out how to make it the default when I do "view source" in IE.
