My fingers are crossed that you can help!

I've previously done my business website in Frontpage 3.0.2 and haven't had any of these issues so I'm at a loss.

First of all a very simple one....where the title of the page is displayed I get <title> coming before it...I've ammended the html but it keeps coming back...I can't imagine I was getting rid of the wrong thing but I'm sure you will see it.

As for images...some don't seem to be saving....and also I used buttongenerator.com and the over buttons don't seem to be loading...I'm happy not to have them but don't know how to get rid of them!!!

Quick answer for the first one.

The meta tag above your title has title on the end. It should finish with >

Take out the red bit.

Your button images should be in a folder called buttons which doesn't seem to be there.

It keeps getting stranger and stranger...

I've gone through and changed the <title> bit....but noticed that when I saved, it reverted back to the dodgy version???? Which would explain my attempts to get it right amounting to nothing...

I have tried to upload the buttons folder many times....I shall do so again...that would certainly answer the problem...same goes too for the other missing images...can't imgaine what gremblins are at play!!

Once I get the initial site up, then I can play around with it improving it...I'm determined to master this!!! , especially seeing some of the creations around here....

Given that the title problem seems to be on all your pages it's possible that you've managed to save the error into the normal.dot template for the page.

Try doing a search in explore for normal.dot.

You should get quite a few back. Some will be for Word etc. Open them one by one in notepad until you find the FP files. If you find any with that extra title in, carefully correct it and save. Make sure you chack all of them, there may be more than one.

And to be a pain again!

I definitely can't change and save the <title> code....when I hit the save button it reverts back!

Also, where does the buttons folder need to be? Currently its at root level....should it be somewhere else...but it does seem to be uploaded.

See above your post, I beat you to it.

As for the buttons folder

buttons/button1up.png

is in the code so the folder needs to be in the same place as your page which I assume is in the root.

I actually didn't use a template but went back to the index and saved as...hence the problem is on every page...the error doesn't seem to appear in the preview pane [:@]


Have tried save as, save, save all....the code keeps changing back to the original. I"ve certainly never had this problem before

OK, here's your button problem

the code is looking for

http://www.kidsonkeys.net/buttons/button1over.png

lower case and upper case.

Sorting this out in FP is a pain so rename the folder on the web to buttons (lowercase)

If it's in your FP local web as Buttons, rename it there as well to stop it changing next time you upload.

No, not talking about a template. When you do File>New or whatever to create a new page, FP gets all the stuff in the header set up for you and it gets it from a file called normal.dot

also don't forget to resample you images as well as resizing them.

resizing takes a large image and simply displays it at a smaller size (so it's still the same filesize!) resmapling means the filesize comes down along wioth the image size.

there is a resample button on the image toolbar or use your graphics editor (if you have one) to make the images the right size.
