Review of seoprojectbid.com - 8/29/2006 16:08:27
Hi! I created a new site called seoprojectbid.com

It was created in order to provide a listing of seo companies and allow web site owners to place free requests for seo work that needs to be done. There is also a free article submission directory that has been created to help out websites become an expert in their given field.

The site is fairly basic but will obviously be improved if this website takes off (ex: become more automated). Just wondering what people think of it and more importantly if there is anything I should add that would make it more appealing for use?

Here ya go.

DISCLAIMER: This is simply my observation of what I see. No code is being reviewed.

1. Home page
  • The first thing I notice is that the middle section seems disproportionate to the rest of the page. It should go the full length of the bar underneath your navigation.
  • Your navigation seems a bit crowded. Either shorten the 'Submit' and 'Add' text or put them on two lines.
  • What's the purpose of the second bar under the navigation area?
  • I think you should use USERNAME and PASSWORD instead of the shortened versions you have. And why is the height so tall? Seems like a waste of screen real estate. Matter of fact, why not move that to the top left and put the Contact Us in the navigation. And I think LOGIN would be better than SUBMIT.
  • The space above and below the middle section are different.
  • The 'Welcome to SEO Project Bid' section doesn't seem to have the same right and left margins.

2. About Us
  • Maybe a little bit more information About You. Address? SEO Experience, if any? Blah blah blah.
  • Inconsistent capitalization in your company name.
  • You have a contact page. Wouldn't that serve as a way to contact you?
  • Why is the login section on this page?

3. Submit Your SEO Project
  • Ditch the gray background in the form. It's distracting.
  • Put the 'Fields' are mandatory at the top of the section.
  • Use Number instead of '#'. (Isn't that an SEO thing?)
  • Use http:// in front of the 'www' example.
  • Instead of saying Round Numbers provide an example.
  • Your SUBMIT button and RESET button seem to use two different font sizes.

4. Add Your SEO Company
  • Nothing to review.

5. Article Submission
  • Nothing to review.

6. Contact Us
  • Nothing to review.

7. Footer
  • Give each link some breathing room. Right now they're buched together.

Other Things
  • Is it SEO Project Bid, SEOProjectBid, SEO project bid, or SEOProjectBid.com. Pic one and stick with it.
  • Is there going to be a privacy policy/terms of use/copyright something on the site?
  • The gray-on-gray navigation is a little hard to read. I viewed it on 4 different computers and it was still a little hard on the eyes.
  • The 'Sponsored Link' section seems to be centered. Maybe put that to the left instead.

Exiting notes:

Overall, the colors and layout are simple and straightforward. I like simple. You just need to tweak a couple of things and you should be fine.

Other than that, if you need help let us know. That's what we're here for.
