Oh boy that's pretty interesting source code you have. *S*

Okay first things first. What you are seeing means a couple of things. First did you publish your site or use ftp? Second do you have the FP server extensions installed on your hosting server?

What you are seeing usually means one of two things: either that you used ftp, or the server extensions are corrupt or missing.

In connection with your other post, I am not sure what you mean by 'db' in your topic line. From what I can see, you are having this form send the information to a .txt file in the _private folder. If you are meaning db for database, forms are not the same things. and most likely on a Unix server, you will not be able to use the database functions of FP.

Now back to your source code. If you have a chance, open that page in a browser and do a view source. Or use the html tab in FP. See all those & nbsp in there?? (hundreds of them)This tells me you are using the space bar for positioning. the & nbsp (without a space between the & and n) stands for non-breaking space. HTML is not like anything you may have used in the past. Everything you see on a page in a browser (and even the things you don't see such as a space, has to have html information in order to make it display in a browser. Everytime you hit the space bar to move your cursor over in order to put something on your page means something was written in html. So to end my lecture, go to the next paragraph.

Tables Tables Tables. Learn to build tables and put everything inside for placement.

an excellent source for how to build tables is here:

Good luck.

Nancy...the first wrong thing I did was use ftp...after reading and researching this forum, I have figured that part out. Thats because of the great people offering their advice in here. So I did publish correctly and that worked out. Except when I publish it puts it in a funky file, then I move that to my index files and it worked. Why?..I have no idea. Next, I just found out that UNIX does not support databases...I never knew that...but actually, its not that important...but forms being email to me is VERY critical. I havent quite matered that yet. Even though I follow all the instructions and read the posts and tips, I am doing one darn thing wrong. Still ripping my hair out on that.

Actually, I thought I put things in a table because I read it in here several times...but alas, us newbies have less hair than you. Thank you for your reply...it was useful.

Unix supports more (and much more powerful!) databases than Windows ever dreamed of supporting. It just doesn't support Access or MS SQL.
