Google Alerts. How Do They Work? - 9/7/2006 14:18:27
Hello, For those who use Google Alerts, I am totally confused because I can not confirm the rankings. For example, I sign up at Google Alerts to receive a web alert for the keywords ecommerce Rockford I get this back from Google Alerts: Website Development India, ASP PHP ASP.NET Cold Fusion website ... web-developer-India.com offers professional low cost ecommerce website development in ... Rockford, IL –– The Rockford Area Economic Development Council has ... http://www.web-developer-india.com/website-development.asp - Rank 79 - cached - this is relevant | irrelevant If I then go to Google, input the keyword ecommerce Rockford , I can not find www.web-developer-india.com in any of the rankings, much less even close to the 70's. Does anyone have any opinions on whether Google Alerts really works and How? Thanks

"Google Alerts sends you an email each time a new page for your chosen term makes it in the top twenty results on Google’s web search" However, since we all seem to view different datacenters on G's whim, just know that somewhere, on some datacenter, that page just got a boost into the top-20. The data is sort of latent in that you may not see it right away because your datacenter has not been updated. hope that helps! Tera
