How to acknowledge receipt of gift cards - 9/12/2006 12:51:42
One of my customers has a restaurant and wants to offer gift cards on their site for purchase.
They sell other tickets at times for special dinner occasions etc. on their site however with all of those they are pick up in person at the restaurant the day they attend the dinner, function, etc.
Since they are a few simple selections of denomination I dont use a formal full blown cart and just use Mals Ecommerce and create a few Buy Now buttons for the above for various amounts.
The thing with the gift card is once they are purchased the restaurant wants to postal mail them out to the final receipient and often they are sent to someone other than the purchaser, in other words the actual reciever of the gift card.
We need to verify they were recieved because they are treated as cash by anyone possessing them.
Since they are being sent postal mail if we go with any mailing service, USPS, FedEx etc. it would get costly to get Return Receipts.
I was wondering how anyone else handles this matter and what methods of delivery and verification of receipt they go with that works for them.

Not a bad idea but I don't know if that would protect the restaurant.
The thing is we need a way to avoid the buyer or reciever saying they never got it since the gift card is like sending cash.
So I wondered how others handle this?
