Can't find post on meta data - 9/14/2006 12:48:16
Yesterday while reading thru this forum I came across the topic of setting up your website to use meta data (site / site settings / Manage the website using hidden metadata files) where the latter was grayed out. I need to find that post again as the same thing is happening to me (completely new to EW). Can anyone point me to it?

The reason it was greyed out (in that case) was that the fellow did not have the site open as a site.
File > Open Site > ...
Or you could create a site. File > New > Web Site > ...
There are no site settings until you have a site open.

It looks to me as though you have a site open live on the server. And it looks to me as though the FP server extensions are already working there. No?
I believe the Meta Data command is for local webs that were not created in FP and, therefore, do not have the proprietary hidden fp config files that allow FP to manage the web.
I believe the command is only available when the files are not already there.
