pfctid -> Help needed! Frontpage Shared Borders (9/15/2006 15:20:39)

Hi,

Got myself into a sticky mess! I am self employed and have a small website to promote the business. Initially we had it designed by a web designer and we are very happy with the site, feel and content etc.

I have today made a few changes, updates etc. I have downloaded the website content using Ipswitch WS FTP professional.

I then made the changes I needed using Frontpage (even adding images and making sure the page pointed to the new image in the images folder etc!)

However when uploading everything it appears that the shared border has been disabled. The border was fairly complex (for me) containing a shockwave flash file we had had created, 2 jscript script file also a scrolldown selection box to prompt browsers to go to other pages.

The standard "help" just says click on format and tick "shared borders" etc etc but that purely lets me create another shared page and I understand that shockwave is not always easy to imbed into a frontpage document.

What I need to know is how do I point the page & (each page) to the infomation into the "Borders" folder that I haven't touched the content of.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hello, pfctid.

First, welcome to Outfront.

Second, do you have a link or a graphic that points to the problem. It usually helps us help you.

Unfortunately not - the only "live" web page is "under a construction" quote that I put up awhilst making changes. I have only touched data that was within a folder called, "public" then "www" this www folder contains:

1. borders
2. derived
3. private
4. vti_cnf
5. vti_pvt
6. Images
then in the same folder contains numerous htm, thumbs, some js files

Hope that means more to you than me!

Thank you for your welcome.

all I have literally done is make some information and cosmetic changes to some of the htm files and updated jpegs/gifs within the images folder.
