rickir -> Small business vs Large business (9/19/2006 15:59:07)

Hello all, My wife works for a small business development center and was asked by a customer if there was a way to increase the number of visitors to her website. I've been going through the archives and reading past threads regarding metatags, search terms, and so on; but, I have a lot to do just to grasp the basics. Just a question or two to help me along: First, when it comes to attracting more potential customers to your site, does the size of your company affect your strategy for accomplishing this? For instance, they could advertise the web address in the local "nickel shopper" or bakery, but that doesn't help attract customers from all over the state or country. Second, are there some simple strategies a small business might employ? Since these are often one-person shops, is it worth the cost of paying an expert for optimization? Finally, are there any texts, videos, workshops, etc., that you would suggest to help further understand the issue? Hope that all makes sense. TIA, RR
